The smell isnt rubber like tires, but i dont think its electrical either. The driving around till it does smell then checkin it is a good idea, but that might take like 1 hr of driving, so how do know how well it would work. I might try it tho. Any more ideas? Someone in the technical forum said something about checking the pulley for wear, did he mean the pulley on the alternator or the engine? And wat would i look for?

i found out one thing when i went to get my alt tested. I took it to 3 different places, Napa, Schucks, and CarQuest. At both Napa and CarQuest they said it was good, but at Schucks they said it was bad. So I wasn't sure who to believe. Turns out that Schucks was right. I guess that from what the guy told me, most places only tests how many volts your alt is putting out. But your alt can be putting out 14.4 volts, but no amps at all, so it isn't charging your battery at all, and this was the case for me. I also ended up frying the rebuilt alternator that Schucks gave me, thank god for the warranty so I got another for free, and everything works great for me now.

Yeah, im gonna get a new alt, cuz my bro looked at it and he said the smell was the alt burning up its coil, so hopefully it'll last till Tues, when i can replace it. The only problem is, i aint got the warranty, but hopefully they have it in the system, hell its only been 3 weeks Thanx for all your help and if another new alt doesnt fix it, im just gonna kill myself. j/k.....well.....we'll see......no i better just say im kidding, dont want to offend anyone who has know someone who comitted suicide, actually i should just delete this whole thing, but thats no fun. In all seriousness, if someone did no someone who had someone commit suicide, and this pointless writing is offensive or hurtful, lemme know and ill delete it asap. Thanx again ppl
