1997 SE Tranny Swap
Ok here's the deal
Unfortunately I got stuck with an automatic transmission with my Max, and I want to do a full transmission swap to a 5-speed manual transmission... I want to know if anyone knows the approximate cost of a 5-speed transmission (new or < 50,000 miles) and a clutch, and if you have done the swap yourself, what kind of labor costs are we talking? if it's gonna cost me more than a couple G's I'll just forget it and get the valve body modification.

according to hlh0501, the swap can run between 8-1500 bucks for parts, and even higher for any high performance parts, and easily twice that for labor. Do it yourself, his steps are really clear and seam easy enough, if I dont come across a 5 speed soon, I'll end up swapping out too.
