Car accident

AHHHHH!!!!
Got in a car accident today. For anyone who cares, here's what happened:

I'm going east on the far right lane on a 3 lane highway. I'm cruising at fairly moderate speed (i was following speed limit thank god). There's a bus in the middle lane and it seemed slow reacting to the green light up ahead because there was traffic. Lot of cars but i dont' think much of it and go then suddenly as i pull closer the bus a car pops out and BAM!!!!!
My airbags deploys and i see a red paseo in front of me. Funny thing, there was bondo everywhere from her car. Well we get out and exchange information. The people were trying to walk up to me and say like....." yea let's keep the cops out of this". I didn't really want to say anything so i walked away. Then they come back and say "let's keep cops out of this and keep it easy" i reply "what do you mean by easy?" They say "well the girl doesn't have a drivers license. So how about you pay like, half the cost for fixing our car and we'll keep it even." I was thinking, what the hell. Walked away again and decided to file a police report. Cops come. Turns out she has no license OR insurance. Yup. So i'm still in the process of checking out what's going to happen. Cars under my father's name so he's gonna check out whats up.

Damage: Windshield broken. Both airbags deployed. Front end is messed up. Power steering is F###ED up.

Not exactly sure, but since airbags deployed, i can technically declare the car total loss right? Get some money from the insurance company? Can anyone confirm this? This car seems to be bad luck for me. Well thanks for putting up with my LOOONG POST about pretty much nothing. oh yea one more thing. THANK GOD IN HEAVEN NO ONE GOT HURT. I GUESS NOTHIGN ELSE MATTERS AS LONG AS EVERYONES OK RITE??? GOD SURE IS WATCHING OVER ME. well y ea, thanks again for putting up w/ my long post.

Wait i dont quite get the picture... did she basically cut u off, and u had no chance to stop fast enough? Sounds like it was actually her fault

Man, here is an advice from personal experience, and ive had a lot of it from dealing with insurance agencies since i dont have full coverage myself..... ALWAYS call the cops and ALWAYS get eye witnesses and their info. Don't feel sorry for the people, cuz they might just fuck u. An example, they might say pls dont call the cops, i dont have a license, ive had so many acidents lately.. blah blah blah, you say OK thats fine well figure it out, and u know what they do? They go straight to the police station and report you. So guess who's fault it is then automatically, unless theres sufficient eye witnesses in your favour? makes things much more complicated for you to prove your right and get your money.
Now if you have full coverage you could try to get your money's worth from your own insurance if it was your fault, but then check how much your insurance will go up. It might not be worth it.....I know in canada it isnt, unless its a brand new expensive car.

So yeah im glad that youre OK, and that you did call the police after all, if you have eyewitnesses, and dont have full coverage, then you should be able to bring them to court and still get your money for the car. Good luck!

That sucks ass. I'm not even going to think about why she was driving without license and why someone was letting her.

Anyways, what made me reply was edman24 saying he got his car egged. About a week ago my brother was on the highway at like, 12:30 at night and some kids pulled up beside him and threw eggs at his passenger door. One of the eggs (maybe a rock too?) caused the paint to crack. Anyways, after a couple days of dealing with the police and insurence companys, he cant charge the guy for damages cause it will cost less $$$ to repaint the door then his insurence company will cover. Its kinda annoying how they can get off the hook cause his insurence company pays for it.

Insurence companies are annoying...

Hello all!

Funny you should start this thread, because an accident is why I bought my VX. I had a nice red '89 Audi 90 Quattro and I was at a 4-way stop on the left lane to make a left. When it was my turn to go, I go into the intersection, and the guy in the last lane to my left pulls out when it's my right-of-way and we collided. The cops show up and don't issue tickets to either of us and says that this will go on my insurance because I was in the "strike" vehicle. Go figure!

I get the police report and the diagram is WRONG!!! So now I am being screwed by the cops because changing the report is the last thing they want to do and the insurance companies are dragging it out too.

I guess everybody has a run of bad luck every now and then. Like you, I kept my cool and that has helped me think straight.

Thanks for the therapy.

Cheers!

wats up guys. thanks for the support and all that. well i'm still in the process to see what's going on. it seems like my insurance company is sorta dicking me. i dont' think they'll let me declare the car a total loss. i guess that's cool, but the thing that makes me mad is that they took my car about 1 1/2 weeks ago and i have YET to see an estimate or anything of the sort. ahh getting in car accidents suck.....haha

Dude you better start complaining or something!!! I crashed my car a day before you did and I got it back today. The insurance has the right not to declare it a total loss, as long as they pay for the damages. For some reason they labled my 99 SI as a $17k car so they paid the $9k in damages. BUT I think you should start getting angry. My damages were both a mangled front end and rear but none of my windows broke and my airbags deployed also.

ahh that sucks bro. but your car is up and running again eh? 99 si's are so freakin sexy i kinda tried to convert mine to that style. i had a 99 front on my 97....then someone stole my si lip.....those assholes. have you gotten any of your Si parts stolen? ~knock on wood~ they're so popular lately it's hard to keep your car. i'm gonna buy myself a 19xx hooptie so no one messes w/ my stuff.....
