here is a list i have compiled for the guys @ supercars.net, but only like 3 care, so i felt like posting it here, it needs correcting and i know you guys will help me out on that
McLaren F1 Locations in America 1. Herb Chambers who owns a large chain of car dealers in New Hampshire owns a black over tan F1. 2. Carl Beal who lives in Midland, Texas owns a large financial company owns a silver F1 that was lent to Road and Track a few years ago for a top-speed shootout. It has also been seen @ his second residency in Aspen, CO. Currently driven by his son. License plate: M LAREN 3. Rapper Wyclef Jean owns a F1 4. Jay Leno owns an F1 5. A black F1 resides somewhere in the Dallas area 6. A F1 GTR resides at the BMW museum in Spartanburg, SC. It's one of the FINA cars - it wears #39. It has also been seen at Prototype Technologies Group locating in Winchester, VA which is BMW's U.S. Motorsports research and development company owned by Tom Milner. They fielded the M3 GTR's in the American LeMans series over the past few years. It's possible that the F1 GTR belongs to him or to PTG and is loaned to the BMW Museum in Spartanburg, SC. It's also possible that PTG was simply servicing the car for BMW 7. Motorcars International currently has another titanium gray F1 in stock 8. Dan Kennedy, a financial advisor in Scottsdale, owns a gold F1 9. Ralph Lauren definatley owns 1 Mclaren F1, and had another on order 2 years ago, whether or not he received it is unknown 10. Someone close to Will Turner of Speedvision World Challenge fame owns three Mclarens. He has two normal F1s here in the States and an LM that he keeps in England. Chassis #07. Possibly Frank Seldoff 11. There is a silver McLaren that has been spotted recently on the streets of LA near Beverly Hills. My roommate saw it and a member of the Corvette Forums also saw it and took two pictures 12. One car that wasn't mentioned but should have been is the Blue XP4 which was featured in the Top Gear McLaren F1 movie with Tiff Needel that so many of us are familiar with. There were several pictures of that car that floated around the net about a year ago showing it in front of a very nice house with a 360 Modena and 911 Turbo in the garage. It was wearing a CA Dealer plate in the photos. -448 Quail Run Drive. Fremont California. Between San Jose and Oakland 13. 1 in Oak Brook Illinois, near Chicago 14. 1 in Woodside, California, between San Franscisco and San Jose. North of Palo Alto and Mountain View. It is owned by Larry Ellison, Oracle CEO 15. 1 in Santa Cruz, California, South of San Jose over the mountains, by the ocean. (he has a multiple 959’s awaiting DOT certification and his Bugatti EB110SS is currently for sale) 16. Lawrence Strohl, former CEO of Tommy Hilfiger, owns the Mont Tremblant circuit in Canada and a McLaren F1 17. Gerd Petrik, who lives in Florida owns a silver McLaren F1 along with many other exotics including an XJ220 18. There is a McLaren F1 located somewhere in Mckinney, TX, which is North of Dallas 19. Chassis # 19R is currently for sale at Symbolic – La Jolla or Beverly Hills, CA. (MAY NOT BE IN THE US YET!) 20. An automotive forums member who seems to know a ton about McLarens says there is a third in Texas :flash: |

Corrections
1) Herb Chambers lives in CT, ones dealerships in MA and CT
2) Wycleff Jeans car is not legally here. Ditto for his Zonda. 3) Leno owns 015. 4) Steve Will at Motorcars has claimed many F1s including the 069 Chicago car. The silve may be one of Petriks. 5) Petrik has sold both his car (one to Elon Musk) 045 and 067 6)Ralph Lauren does own two 7) Frank Selldorf (willTurners mechanic) owns three: 007, 068 (ex Brenner) and an LM 8) 069 in Chicago has been seized by USC 9)Ellison's is 064 your #15 would be Bruce Canepa who does not own any of the cars you mention. He often claims more than he has. The 959s are not his and are being modifiec with some Mickey mouse FI system. XP4 was originally owned by the Bruce Mclaren family in NEw Zealand. Sold to Larry Blair. The place belong to a custom vehicle builder who has some type of a relationship with Blair. |

How definite are you that Ralph Lauren owns two?
That's pretty amazing if it's true! Wonder if he bought one as an investment and only drives one, or if he drives both regularly?! |

mini_magic - I have revised your list to the best of my knowledge due to omissions, and innacuracies. My list may have some problems too, but I think it's more complete than your's has been and you did ask me to help you out with it. I included my comments in parenthesis using italicized text - anyone who can add to this or correct what's here is welcome to.
I also added a section at the bottom of "Oddballs" - these are cars that just don't offer enough concrete info to be included on the list yet IMHO. If anyone has specific info on those and can clear them up or eliminate them from the list that would be great. I have a feeling that most of my assumptions on those cars are correct, but I don't mind being proved wrong. Also, in cases where I know or suspect that an F1 was one of the Ameritech cars - I have added "** Ameritech F1**" afterwards. If you know of any of those that are wrong or can add to the list, please feel free to speak up. = = = = = McLaren F1 Locations in North America: 1. Herb Chambers - who lives in CT and owns a large chain of car dealers in MA and CT owns a silver F1. **Ameritech F1** (If someone wants to claim that he owns a black one, then they need to provide better evidence than the photo of him on his website next to the silver one - www.herbchambers.com ) 2. Carl Beal - who lives in Midland, Texas owns a large financial company owns a silver F1 (#042) that was lent to Road and Track a few years ago for a top-speed shootout. It has also been seen @ his second residency in Aspen, CO. License plate: M LAREN **Ameritech F1** 3. Rapper Wyclef Jean - owns an F1 road car - Genesis Dark Blue #038 (NOT LEGALLY HERE) 4. Jay Leno - owns chassis #015, a black F1 with red stripe on the ventline of the door. **Ameritech F1** 5. Dan Kennedy - a financial advisor in Scottsdale - started www.vstore.com and www.vcommerce.com - owns the F1 road car - #037 originally delivered in "Special Silver" but painted at his request by the factory to mimic the "Yquem" color of the last road car #075 - he calls the color "Kandy Orange". It is currently for sale - www.mclarenforsale.com 6. Larry Ellison - the CEO of Oracle owns a Silver F1 #064 **Ameritech F1** (...unless he sold it, I heard a rumor that he might have in the wake of some emission probs) 7. Larry Blair - owns the Bright Electric Blue F1 prototype 'XP4', previously owned by Bruce McLaren's family in New Zealand. It was in the Top Gear McLaren F1 movie with Tiff Needel that so many of us are familiar with. There were several pictures of that car that floated around the net about a year ago showing it in front of a very nice house with a 360 Modena and 911 Turbo in the garage. It was wearing a CA Dealer plate in the photos. The house is not Larry Blairs, it belongs to a friend -448 Quail Run Drive. Fremont California. Between San Jose and Oakland 8. Ralph Lauren definatley owns 2 Mclaren F1’s - probably both **Ameritech F1's** (could really use more details or any photos of these two cars....) 9. Frank Selldorff, who drives a Turner Motorsports BMW in the Speedvision World Challenge series, owns three Mclaren's. He has two normal F1s here in the States and an LM that he keeps in England. Chassis’ #’s: 07 (Resides in MA) and 068, LM chassis # unknown (I don't believe that #68 is here in the states - possibly drewwtms from Turner can confirm??) 10. Bruce Canepa - former IMSA driver and owner of Canepa Designs - www.canepa.com - owns a titanium F1 road car. This is the Santa Cruz, California car. (he has a multiple 959’s awaiting DOT certification and his Bugatti EB110SS is currently for sale) (Just to clarify - the "mickey mouse" ECU setup for the 959 was co-developed by GIAC - http://www.giacusa.com/porsche_959.htm - who is a very respected ECU tuner. Anyway, if it makes the cars legal then who cares...) 11. Elon Musk - former CEO of PayPal.com and Zip2.com, who is now working on his own private Mars exploration project owns a Silver F1 (poss #045 or #067) which he crashed, but had repaired by the factory. **Ameritech F1** (Anyone know exactly which car Petrik sold to Musk? It seems that based on original color of "Magnesium Silver" that #067 would be the correct one) 12. A black F1 resides somewhere in the Dallas area (I have heard about this car in a few places. Anymore info or some photos would be great. Also, see #20 on this list below) 13. Lawrence Strohl, former CEO of Tommy Hilfiger, owns the Mont Tremblant race circuit in Canada and a McLaren F1 - This car is Dk Silver. (Anyone know if this would be Petrik's other car #045?? It seems to match the photos I have of that car.) 14. It's also possible that PTG was simply servicing the car for BMW (I'm not sure if this car is still in the US - anyone, anyone?? Bueller??) The oddballs: 15. There is a silver McLaren that has been spotted recently on the streets of LA near Beverly Hills. My roommate saw it and a member of the Corvette Forums also saw it and took two pictures. (Could possibly have been Musk's car?? - had CA plates. Might be a duplicate of another??...) 16. An automotive forums member who seems to know a ton about McLarens says there is a third in Texas (Ok - good for him... )17. 1 in Woodside, California,CA. (MAY NOT BE IN THE US YET!) (Does this refer to the Red car coming through Los Gatos from Japan?? or Larry Ellisons's car?? He lives in Woodside so I am told.) 18. 1 in Oak Brook Illinois, near Chicago (Wouldn't this be the Fox Valley Motorcars/Deusey car?? #069 Dk Grey w/LM Kit that was confiscated by US Customs?? I sure think so...) 19. Motorcars International currently has another titanium gray F1 in stock. (This car is most likely the same car that sat in the showroom of Newport Autosport for so long. I would not be surprised if it's the car that now belongs to Bruce Canepa though I can't confirm this. Anyone have more info??) 20. Motorcars Intl advertised for sale #072 - a Black F1 road car with the LM-Kit a few years back. After that the car was seen displayed at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, CA but has since been removed and apparently will not be returning according to museum staff. (Anyone know the deal on this car?? Was it here illegally?? Has it left or could it be a duplicate of the black Texas car??) = = = = = There you have it - that's my version of the list. Tear it apart if you want, but I'm fairly confident in most of the information up there. >8^) ER |

Since it is a post-96 car, it was probably here illegally. I think all the Amerispec cars are earlier models. Present whereabouts unknown, but I have heard it is still with the Gonzalez family. There were two sons, and they were known for taking this car out to Nevada and "exercising it" against superbikes. |

half-truths
1) Wycleff jeans car is 022, no question, believe me.
2) Jay Leno's car is not one of the seven original Amerispec cars. But it was brough in under Fritz's Amerispec (JK Technologies) EPa certificate. 3) Ellison has not sold his car. The problems invovled a sting on a mechanic selling smog stickers by mail. CARB was rebuffed by Ellison's lawyers for months until they got to see the car. 4) I doubt that Turner or anyone else will admit to where #068 is. The S&D petition was withdrawn but I bleive the car to be at JK Technologies. 5)Canepa only owns one 959. He has had deals with others in the past although his reality and the owner's reality of ownership are often not the same. Only one car here legally under S&D but that is questionable since S&D requries application before the car enters the US and his car has been here for years. He does not own an EB110 according to S&D. Canepa has been"tuning" the 959s he has for over two years. I can only imagine what the bill will be. Porsche will do the same for 15K EURO. Ask Gates. The 959 ECU is perfectly capable of being modified to meet EPA. Been there, done that. So I have no explaination as to why Canepa does what he does. $$$$ 6)Foxvalley did not own #069. Wieringa car. Other owners: Ron Dennis David Clark, off and on. Original salesman at McLaren on all cars. The well knonw cominc, UK . Car wrecked, repaired. George Harrison. Believe Eric Clapton has this car. |

faisalkhan-
Thanks for the extra info on that car. I'll see if I can use that to extract some more info on that car. It would seem to me that there is no way that car could be here legally and the evasive answers I received when I contacted Blackhawk about it have left me wondering. I will update if I learn anymore about that car. = = = = = Gerd- Thanks for adding what you know. ![]() I looked back at the location where I had originally acquired the Wyclef chassis number and you are most certainly correct. I think #038 is the other Genesis Blue F1, and I must have confused myself when I updated my list. Who knows when I would have caught that, so thanks for mentioning that. Thanks for the clarification on Leno's car - I knew that his arrived much later than the other Ameritech F1's so that had always puzzled me. I'll correct that later. Good to hear that Ellison still has his car. I did hear that someone saw a silver F1 being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck on the side of the freeway in his area just a few days ago, so his may be having some problems with it. As for Canepa, I was aware that he only has a stake in one of the 959's in his possession. In fact, I think he is only half-owner on the car. I have seen him display 3 different ones so I'm not positive which one belongs to him - I have seen a silver, white, and black with his name on them. I was not aware that Porsche would convert a 959 - that's very interesting. I do know that the GIAC software not only allows the car to be legal, but they also claim a HP increase in the process so maybe that is why people give him their $$$ He has also displayed the silver EB110 SS several times - I was lucky enough to see it in person on one such occasion. I have also seen photos of the car at his Santa Cruz shop where most of the 959's are stored. The Bugatti was recently listed for sale in the SantaCruz area on EBAY by the username (Canepasomething). I could dig up the auction info if you're interested - it's possible that he was just borrowing the car and was contracted to handle the sale. Just to add a bit of info on #069 - the car listed by Fox Valley was apparently co-owned by Wieringa and a man named Paul Cherry - an associate of his. = = = = = mini_magic - I have my sources on Kennedy's car. For some reason, Dan's not publicizing which F1 that is along with the sale. Maybe the car has some bad history from the previous owner - you never know. Someone from Supercars.net relayed that chassis # to me from a friend who took those Willow Springs photos when the car was used to film the Discovery Channel special. I can't say I'm 100% on it - but I have no reason to believe anything different. Knowing that his car is a 1995 and was originally Silver does allow #037 to be correct. We'll leave it at that until I hear otherwise. = = = = = Anyone else care to add, delete or correct some info here?? I will update the list this evening or tomorrow to reflect the changes that are here. ![]() >8^) ER |
