it is very easy to do, these are the steps i followed to remove my bumper on my crx, tho im sure they arent much different on the civic.

remove taillights
remove all the plastic trubk peices against the rear of the car from inside the trunk.
undo the two hidden bolts after you remove the plastic on the bottom near the spare tire well.
remove the 4 screws(2 per side) from the rear fender well area.
remove two bolts from underneath the bumper.
remove liscense plate and remove bolt from behind it.
remove the three bolts from the top of the bumper under where the tails were.
and finally remove two more bolts that are underneath the bumper but are behind the fascia of it, not on the plastic part of the bumper, you'll see what i mean when you get to it.

hope this helps.

You don't have to do all the things CRXLVR said. All you have to do is undo the screws in the fender wells, and remove 4 bolts (2 bolts behind the rear interior panel, 2 under the car in the same area) then just pull it off thats it. Maybe you have to do all that stuff for a CRX but I know you don't for the Civic. Also the lower 2 bolts are hidden behind plastic things, just rip them off.
