True enough, that's why I said the hard part is proving it was you using your gun. But, you have to register as a gun owner (in the U.S.), so they'd be sure to ask you why you let other people use you gun, or why you didn't report it missing.

Well, don't use legal ways of purchasing the rifle. And buy it from a place as far away from the future murder scene as possible, but buy it yourself. And make sure the gun/rifle has not been used before (if it's possible) - it can be traced to the person who sold it to you and then back to you.

The problem would be getting away from the scene, dispencing with the weapob for good, and having an alibi, especially if you have a strong motive (I'm assuming you do why would you want to kill someone if you don't).

Planting homemade explosives that are remoted detonated under the seat in their car would be a nice way.
My best mate would give me an alibi.

i wouldn't buy it legally.... that would be the tricky part, getting an illegal gun. It would suck getting pulled over and having an illegal gun though

anyway even if i did buy the gun legally.... i buy the ammo in a different place, how would they know that ammo came out of this gun?

The hammer of the gun that hits the back of the shell leaves a mark.
As the bullet moves through the barrel, it is etched by spiraling lines inside the barrel.

Between these two things, every gun has a unique "fingerprint."

Jay's right on this one. I've watched enough Justice Files to know. Thing about it is that they have to find the gun to prove that the bullet came from it.

They have to find the gun, and fire another round, then compare the two used bullets. I think it's called ballistic forensics.
