Question How to tell if I have keyless entry 2002 Blazer LS

Hello,

Nice forum here. I have a 2002 Chevy Blazer LS that I bought yesterday. The dealership didn't have any key fobs for it. How can I tell if this car has keyless entry? Is there some sort of test I can perform?

Thanks,
SadlerB

Yours does not have factory keyless entry option AUO

You can still buy a GM accessory kit though, they look and function just like the factory installed units.

Thanks for checking John. Is this something that I can install or should I take it to the dealer? Also, on another note. How can I get the radio code?

Thanks again,
Bobby

You can actually just purchase the RKE module, goes right beside the parking brake on the lower hush panel. All the wiring is allready there, but the dealer will have to reprogram the BCM to activate the option. I've done probably 20 of these when our truck department made a mistake. Radio code is also a dealer deal, they have to pull the code out and make a phone call unless they left the plastic sticker on the radio itself. That had the code on it.

Thanks! It sounds like I can just plug this into the wiring harness in the hush panel. Are there any online places that you know of that I can buy this from?

Thanks,
Bobby

Sure thing. Is that hush panel the one right above the parking brake? I think it has four or five hex screws holding it on. I pulled it down just now and it has a ton or wires there. Is that where that RKE module will go?

Thanks again for the info.

Thanks bowtiebandit,

I think I am in the right spot. I assume that #1 is pointing to the RKE module location?

You guys are great! I never thought that I would get this much help.

thanks,

Here is the best view I have..

Edit : LOL bowtie beat me to it

To buy it check out www.google.com and do a search for gm parts.
Or just check my profile home page out.
I don't like to use this forum to advertise my web address for parts.

Here is the part number. 15042969 RKE Reciever.

Also,

This is the closest thing online I can find to the RKE.

http://www.aatechnologies.com/../gmalarms/vke1000.asp

Do you think this is the OEM one or a copy?

Thanks,
Bobby

It is OEM and at a great price to only 9 dollars above GM cost on them. They probably bought into a large quanity like we do.

Cool

I will go ahead and order that in a few days. I will stop by the dealer and get them to reprogram the BCM. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks again,
bobby
