Euro spec engine question

Is obtaining a S50/B32 engine possible here in the US or would I need to have one shipped over. If I did find one could I get it for under 10k? Any shops capable of tuning software for it here in Los Angeles?

euro spec engine

it is possible to obtain that engine here, but it may be tough to find one in the states, but you can order one for sure. i have a 325is and asked bmw about a possible m3 motor swap and they said it would cost 20 grand. if your putting a whole different motor in your car, at best some of the sensors and things may work but dont hold your breath, in my case i had to basically replace everything

M3 Engine

So does that mean that you have done the swap? Who quoted you the price of 20k? What about emissions, will it pass here (California)? Also, would you happen to know if there were any 95 M3's that came without a sunroof, becides the CSL.

m3 motor swap

I havent done the swap, to me if im gonna spend 20 grand more on the motor I would rather get an M3. The BMW store in Cincinnati gave me that $20,000 number. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't pass emissions, especially if you get a motor here. I think it would be hard to find a m3 without a sunroof, or even a BMW for that matter. I know that the E46 does offer models without the sunroof but i have never come across an E36 without one. If I were you I would visit Dinan.com. You can get mass upgrades for your ride there. You can bolt on tons of power and it would be much cheaper than a motor swap. Look into chips, cold air, exhaust, headers, throttle body and a supercharger all from dinan and you will be set.
