I always put it below, see how I'm doing it above and I'm responding to your quote....well this way nobody knows who I'm quoting until after they've read my reply and sometimes it's hard to tell what someone is talking about without reading the quote first, so that's why I write my reply below the quotes.

In posts I quote above as it will be easier to understand which part I'm replying to.

In PMs I usually do it so that my new message comes first - it feels somehow unnatural any other way.

exactly. with posts it makes more sense because you can see what i'm replying to and why so that you'll have the "full story" behind my response. in PM's, the only person who's reading it will remember what he already typed before, thus my writing is on top so that my messages comes first and they don't have to scroll through all the other crap to get to it.
