Lightbulb Modelling Reference Photos Idea!

Now I’m sure you all have the same as me loads of photos of cars which we have acquired over time, but I bet we all spend time search for the same stuff, over and over.
So and idea came to mind.
If we all burn a CD with the images we have collected and sent them to me, I could burn a DVD or a series of CD’s collaboration them all, which I would send out for only the cost price, (meaning no profit), just the cost of media and shipping.

As some of the image may be copyright works distributing for free should mean no hassle
What do you all think.

Good idea, in addition we could have a links sticky thread to where we post good sites for reference photos. Only problem I see is all the print photos many of us seem to have, scanning them all would be a pain in the arse.

The idea is sound, but the execution would be troublesome. :o Our tastes are so diverse, that anyone would only really appreciate a certain slice of any given collection. Unless one were to itemize each photo into some fairly specific categories (street Ferraris, race Ferraris, street Nissans, etc...), but then you'd have the problems of cross-classification.

And I don't have a DVD-ROM. :o

But, I only recently got a CD burner, and the first disc I made was about 1/4 full with my 100+ pics of Testarossa motors.

I think the website is the better idea, that way we all get the pictures and if we sort them by category like Chopin said "Ford""Mustang""1996 GT" etc would save us all the time, and effort. Sounds like a good idea and we could make the website very basic, ie no background, no flash animations etc etc just quick access information. Also colour charts would help people trying to make life like replicas of some factory cars. Colour combos also a good idea. I vote "good"

i have over 600 pictures on Tokyo Auto Salon 2002 - 2003 alone and i hav about 1,200 pictures of imports, and imports only, no exotics, jus pure imports, nothing rice. most of all are JDMs pm me if u need nething

but then again, if this does work out, people will be arguing which will be their "mod" on their model. and all i can see are problems and troubles between members, so i believe its best if they go online and look for their own style so people wont be b*tching about who's copying who.

Good idea!

a couple of notes ot think about:

1) basic site within AF for AF members only
2) Standard picture size (preferably 640/480) for 56k users.
3) viewable through thumbnail, otherwise it takes to long to load
4) Categorization by brand

I will send in 1 picture per subject I have and then link to my own site. It' kinda semi commercial, so I can't give up all my resources.

keep us informed on how it'll take place.

Cheers,
Guido
