Help with seats!!!
I got my hands on a integra leather interior, I swapped out the front seats, with the help of the FAQ forum, my problem is with the rear seats. There is no way that the integra back seat will fit in my civic. Iv'e got a 96 LX 2-door. My question is Are there leather upholstery kits out there? Has anybody done this before. Should I go to a shop? If so any suggestions. I live in CA near San Francisco so a shop within driving distance would help. I know it might be $$$ but I'm willing to pay so long as the price is reasonable. Any help would be great...I don't want to keep driving around with leather in the front and cloth in the back.
Thanks |

leather back seats
I own a 93 civic and also got my hands on a set of gsr leathers.
For me the front seats fit right in. I havn't tried working with the back yet because of the weather. Luckily the gsr was from a wreck and i was able to take my time and pry off the hinges for the back seats with a hammer and chisel. They're welded on so be ready to bang sh!t up. Once you have the hinges off you have to line them up as they were in the acura. You might also have to bang those hinges in place to fit right. Heres where it gets tricky. Do you weld them on or do screw them on with metal screws? It depends on what you have acsess to. You might get a nasty smell from the welding. You might not want to put holes in the body from screws. I haven't decided yet on what I want. If you don't have the gsr you might try the salvage yard or the dealer on the possibilty of buying the hinges. If ya got dough you could always have someone custom fit the back seats. Good Luck! I had several problems with the back seat, the lower part has gaps on either side...thats not a huge proplem and can be fixed.. the next problem is that I have a 60-40 split back seat. there is a eyelet that both seats connect to... this is welded to the floor...I could cut that out but the big problem is that the back of the acura seats are bigger than the civic. They are much wider by a good 4-6 inches. That would take some serious custom work, somthing I can't do. Good luck with your backseat, I'm not sure having the hinges will help much, at least not in my situation.
