Duplicolor chrome

The duplicolor instant chrome.

Anyone used this before? Can I spray this highly toxic paint on plastic model kit? What kind of primer do I have to use? Do I have to spray a gloss black before the chrome?

Thanks for reading! Please help! Thanks.

I never used duplicolor chrome before. As far as primer goes, always use duplicolor primer.Without it the paint will melt a perfectly good(as well as not as good)models.

i have a can of that stuff and its a laquer and yes primer is recomended ill try spraying it over tamiya gloss black and testors acrylic Gloss black to see if those help to bring out the chrome. without black it looks like Chrome silver not chrome enough for me it sprays heavy so watch you trigger finger when using it.

Dont use it over Testors Gloss black

Does it need to be gloss black? Or just dark color for the base?

You need a good lacquer primer to protect the plastic from the chrome. I've only tried spraying over lacquer primer, I get a nice chrome silver like Lownslow, but not TRUE chrome. I haven't tested it over gloss black, maybe you can test it for us and report the results?

If you want a really good chrome and have an Airbrush, get Alclad II Chrome, which will give you a chrome finish when sprayed over glossy black enamel surface.
