My Updated 911 Carrera
I finished this model more than a year ago, but I decided to take it apart and upgrade some things.
1) Lowering job 2) Polish with Tamiya compound and clearcoat 3) Panel seams with gundam marker 4) Replaced the original brakes with huge (resin-copied) 911 GT2 brakes. Yes, I know I should have filled in the bumper holes and sanded off the rear parktronic sensors, but I didn't think to do it before and now it's a redo, so I could only refinish the surface. (And yes, I know the rear right exhaust tip is off.) ![]() ![]()

And here's a couple of pics showing the differences in the brakes. The resin brakes are copies of the Tamiya 911 GT2 brakes. It was actually quite a task modifying them to fit the Carrera, but the result is brakes that really fill out the wheels nicely. I know the rear brakes should be a bit smaller than the fronts, but that would mean the rear wheels would not be filled out as much, so I just gave them the same as the fronts.

I think your Carrera looks very good
1) Lowering job => I don't think it needs to be lowered, it doesn't have too much space for the wheel arches. 2) Polish with Tamiya compound and clearcoat => I think you did a pretty good job on the paint already 3) Panel seams with gundam marker => not sure 4) Replaced the original brakes with huge (resin-copied) 911 GT2 brakes. => I think the original brake is large enough...... just a thought...... |

No, what I meant was that I've already done those things. The pictures show the result. (I didn't take any before pics, I forgot to.)

Thanks for the great comments everyone!
![]() I made the resin brakes using a silicone mould of the Tamiya GT2 brakes, then poured in the 2-part resin to dry to shape. This way, from now on, BIG brakes for all my upcoming models!!
