What repair records should a customer keep after a collision?
I work around vehicle claims, and I am curious how the repair side of the industry looks at this.
Once a customer picks up a repaired vehicle, what do you think they should make sure to keep besides the final invoice? I usually think of the original estimate, supplements, photos of the damage, parts information, and communications with the insurer.
I am especially interested in what you have seen matter later—whether the customer trades the vehicle in, sells it, has a warranty question, or simply needs to explain what happened.
Do most shops give customers a complete repair packet at delivery, or is that something customers need to ask for?
I am not looking to debate insurance or tell anyone how to run a shop. I would just appreciate hearing from people who see the repair process from the inside.
