Econ button: Yes or No..??

Finally retired my old 2007, which served me like 16yrs and picked up a 2016 and this one has an 'econ' button. Strikes me as gimmicy. Any thoughts..?/

I'm assuming the Econ button is for the transmission. It basically changes how the transmission shifts to make it more fuel efficient.
