Audi R10 TDI, Revell, 1/24

Hi,

got another one finished before the end of the year, the Revell kit of the 2006 LeMans winner, in my case the current reissue with the "3D Puzzle" of the Dunlop bridge.

The good: the decals are excellent, best decals I ever used, almost no border, and can easily be laid around corners with a hair dryer.

The bad: For a kit made in this century the amount of sinkholes, ejection marks and mould lines is simply to high, some parts are bent slighty out of form and somehow... if you would talk about a digital picture you would say, the resolution was too bad, and it's kind of the same - as if they didn't have the finest tools available when making the mould and had to use the coarser ones.

Under the cowling it's kind of the same: the cockpit is detailed, but around the engine it feels as they didn't know where to put the final couple of parts on the sprues so they left them out of the kit. That's why I didn't make a photo with the cowling removed. Maybe I'll print some addon parts when I find the time to design some new stuff for the 3D printer.

Built OOB, except for the seat belts (Leukosilk + 3D printed buckles and adjusters I made myself) and some finer Antennas. And also the inner headlights came from the 3D printer, as the original part did not really fit.

Painted with TS6, 29 and TS30, the latter one was the reason I did not clearcoat, as the only clear I tested, that did not ruin the look of TS30, was Future, but I was not comfortable airbrushing the whole body with Future. Mirrors were done with Alclad Chrom, the small parts brushed with Aqua Color and Vallejo acrylics.

Hope you like it.

Looks so good! I miss those cars. Back when diesel was going to be the next thing, then the Volkswagen debacle killed it.

My favorite is the R15.
