Audi Central Locking Vacuum Pump broken
Hello
I have a 1999 Audi A4 Avant which is generally in good condition. A few weeks ago, the car started making a hissing noise when I locked it. It sounded like it was coming from the rear driver’s side door.
A couple of days ago the central locking stopped working. The fob is activating the central locking motor - the lights flash and the motor activates for 10-20 seconds (no longer hissing).
With the aid of google I have located the motor in the boot and taken it apart to find that the graphite wheel is shattered.
So, my queries are as follows:
- The motor is obviously broken - some google searches recommend replacing the graphite disc, however I cannot locate a replacement. Does anyone know where I would get one and what I should search for?
- The alternative is to replace the whole motor/pump - If I do this, will I need to re-code my key and is this something I can do myself without any specialist tools/equipment?
- When investigating the issue, I tried taking off one of the air tubes from a Tee (that spurs off to the fuel cap lock), but I was obviously too gung-ho and the tee snapped. So, another question is where would I get replacement Tee's and or hose's and what do I search for?
Happy to post pictures or find more details required - I'm a trainee electrician so more than happy to give this sort of task a go but have very little mechanical experience so please forgive my ignorance / naivety!
