2000 Taurus
III was driving the car all of a sudden it died tried to restart put it into gear and it died again and then remembered I didn't plug the MAF back in so I turned the car off plugged that back in and turned the key and nothing I unhooked the battery and left it sitting all night anybody have any ideas

Check battery voltage static and when cranking regardless of battery age.

Then sounds liker battery is dead. Measure battery voltage. If you can jump it and get it started then measure running voltage to check alternator charging voltage. I think just leaving the MAF unplugged is not the issue. Sounds like the battery was on it's way out or alternator was not charging.

If you turn the headlights on, then try to start the car, do the headlights go out completely or just barely flicker? Does it try to start if you have the transmission in Neutral versus Park?
