Yes, you are measuring the same pressure against a lower pressure.

VINDICATED!!!
My initial points, proven at last! While the advice given from the below video was aimed toward off-roaders, some principles, regarding contact patch are universal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spOUcaUzIHY Please watch the entire video before impulsively commenting halfway through - "but, but...". I wish I could get Robert Pepper on here; his insights and knowledge are indispensable.
