Re: 2012 RAM Fuel rail noise
What do you mean the fuel rail is noisy? The fuel rail has no mechanical parts. If you are talking about injectors ticking it is normal.

Not a tick. Sounds almost not a nock with a rythem at idle. Loud enough be concerned while standing to side of the truck whith hood closed.

Re: 2012 RAM Fuel rail noise
No knock is coming from the fuel rail. I wonder if you have a collapsed lifter.

Re: 2012 RAM Fuel rail noise
I've run a stethoscope around the motor, altenator, pullys, valve covers, intake, etc.
Opened oil cap and it all comes to the injecter rails. Not a solid nock and not a tick. Hard to define. Due to medical conditions the truck sat in the garage most of the time for the past 9 months. Took it out around a month ago to do a manifold job and that's when I started noticing the noise. |

Re: 2012 RAM Fuel rail noise
Again the only ticking that could be coming from your fuel rail would be the injectors cycling. The rail itself has no moving parts. It's just tubed with holes.

Re: 2012 RAM Fuel rail noise
I was thinking more along the lines of fuel pressure fluctuations as injectors fired. Bare with me I'm new to this 5.7 beast. Much to learn about it's bad habits. If it's in the valve system we will find it but so far I'm not completely convinced that's where my problem lay's. What ever it turns out to be I'll keep all posted.
