s10 losing power, hesitating no codes

2001 s10 v6. Had a recent no start problem ended up being wiring pigtail to coil. Replaced coil, crank sensor, ignition module...ran fine for awhile. Truck lost power on highway and was smoking (thats the description I was given as this is not my truck) babied it to local shop about 5 miles away. Truck blew emissions hose on left side? Melted a few things that were all replaced at garage. Truck ran but hesitated. They said they saw arcing on ignition wires and suggested replacing. Truck was brought to me as I replaced the wires and plugs as a favor. Truck idles smoothe now but when driven loses power and almost stalls going up hill. Rpms drop hard and rise. No check engine light and my scanner doesn't pull any codes. Not 100% sure what garage replaced other than a hose on the left side under/near air filter box. Any ideas what i could check before this thing goes back to garage?

Re: s10 losing power, hesitating no codes

here is a random thought....the garage said they had a problem finding the parts to replace when the hose blew. I think they made a hose....there is a rubber hose that looks to be new. Om wondering if the original hose was a solid pipe line? The hesitation being caused by the new rubner hose being sucked closed during hard acceleration causing it to choke itself. Hmmmm....ill have to compare hoses on my astro van and see if this theory could be right

Losing power under load the first thing I'd check would be the cat. Bet it is on its way out and is plugged.

...And fuel pressure, although that's a little more of a challenge when driving.

The blown hose along with the other conditions is what made me think cat. If there is a point you can unbolt the exhaust before the cat that's how I would test it. It will be loud, but it will help diagnose. If you could install a test pipe that would help with volume and see if the cat is bad.
