2000 forester
A few days ago my 2000 forester died on me. It ran fine all morning until I left work to go home. Only made it a few hundred feet before it started hopping and then just died. Thought it was the battery so a friend and I went out and got one. We installed it and I went home.
The next day I left for work with no issues. But again as I was leaving work later that night it was hopping again and died just like the night before. So I figured it can't be the battery, must be the alternator. Ordered a new alternator and installed it today. Car started right up and I let it run for a good 20 mins before I took it for a quick drive around the block. Everything seemed good so I parked it and shut it off. I waited a few mins before I tried to start it again but nothing, dead. Really not sure what to do now, don't know if there's a pinched wire somewhere or a short. No idea. Anyone have any thoughts, maybe I missed something Thanks |

Re: 2000 forester
does the battery light in dash work? there are 2 fuses for the alternator. one will be a lorge fuse, usually 60-100 amps then another 10-15 and small fuse. can also take it to local auto parts stores, most will see if charging system is working for free. are you sure its not just a bad battery cable or bad connection on block or fuse block? is it completly dead or do dash light still come on when you turn the key?
