1966 Lotus Elan S3 (Emma Peel's Car)

Hi,

When I was a very young man in the sixties there were three reason for me not to miss a single episode of the tv-series "The Avengers":

(I) Mrs. Peel
(II) Mrs. Peel in her catsuit
(III) Mrs. Peel in her Lotus Elan

I never found a replica of Mrs.Peel but Gunze Sangyo made a nice 1/24 kit of the Elan S3 maybe 20 years ago.

Gunze Sangyo used to offer two versions of each of their kits, namely a so-called High Tech version (with pewter and PE parts) and an affordable all-plastic version. My model shows the latter one.

As far as I remember it was a kit without major issues, only some detailing was necessary. I would recommend it if there should be any future re-issue.

Wonderful result. Are you sure this is teh version without extra parts? The details look perfect.

Yes, I am really sure because I still have the old Gunze instruction sheet.
As mentioned many details had to be added or replaced, I still remember f. e. most of the dashboard details, the rear and lateral chrome letterings, the convertible boot buttons, and the side windows & frames.

BTW I built only one of Gunze's pricey High Tech kits (E-Type OTS), and I was rather annoyed by the pewter parts.

Your magic worked wonders on this model! Love it. I have one of the low-detail racing versions to build. I agree on the pewter in the high-detail kits.
