I need help. Engine is cutting out going uphill. No one wants to tackle older cars here or they charge huge amounts to tinker. Is this a fuel issue? Fileter? Pump? How can I diagnose this?

The fuel pressure should be monitored while driving. Expect to measure anywhere from 37-45 PSIG depending upon load. If pressure is low there could be various reasons, including a filter, pump, regulator, or line problems. If the pressure is within the normal range the diagnosis would move to other parts of the system.

It is also worthwhile to note that the ignition system may operate normally while idling but fail under load if there are problems with spark plugs, wires, or coils.

My response is too late, but on older cars, it is usually a vacuum leak that causes this problem.

Yes, the problem should have been resolved by now....but I agree with Blue, the problem was more likely secondary ignition.....
