2001 T&C loses power and acceleration when accelerator is fully depressed

I have a problem with my 2001 Town and Country Limited with 3.8 engine. This van runs fine when I accelerate normally, but if I depress the gas petal quickly like pulling on to an expressway or pulling into busy traffic, it loses forward power and seems like it is going to stall. If I back off the petal it recovers and you have to slowly accelerate. It has been this way the 8 years I have owned it, I just baby it along. Other than this, it has been a great vehicle for me. I have searched the internet, threads and sites and I have been unable to find an answer to this. I have not taken it anywhere to try and get it fixed. I'm skeptical based on all I have read about Chrysler transmissions. I hope some one here will have heard of this problem before and can offer me some guidance. I'm new to this site and I searched for a similar post and I didn't see one, forgive me if this has been covered before. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Google "tip in hesitation". The causes are many.

Re: 2001 T&C loses power and acceleration when accelerator is fully depressed

Thanks RIP for this tip. I read through a lot of these and most of it I have already done. Plugs, wires, ignition coil, most sensors on the van and filters, ERG, etc....My gas milage is still bad (12mpg) if I'm lucky. I'm really thinking this is the catalytic converter. I've replaced both up and downstream sensors but I'm not getting a code. Can a cat be bad and not pull and OBD code? Thanks again for your help!

Well did the temperature test: 390 in front and 435 after. From all I read this is close to normal good cat. Does anyone know for sure? I guess I'll move on to the vacuum test. I thought for sure this was my problem.
