1950-51 Champion - Stupid question...

Recently I've stepped into the world of classic cars and have been exploring the different makes and models and what makes them special. I know absolutely nothing about cars of any kind but I'm really very interested in learning all that I can. I have fallen in love with the 1950-51 Studebaker Champions and I have what may seem like an idiotic question to those with more knowledge...

Under the dash on the drivers side there are three knobs/pull levers (I'm unsure of the technical term) and I'm curious as to what they are and what they do. As I said I'm just starting out with this stuff so any and all information about these beauties is more than welcomed!
