Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
2007 Grand Caravan SXT 150K
Outside Air temp began reading higher than the outside temp. Check Engine light came on and when scanned at Autozone a code for a bad Ambient Air Temperature Sensor was identified. Upon inspection I found the sensor broken off from the mount. Purchase a replacement from Rock Auto. Replaced no engine code or miss reading until today while driving to work in heavy rain. Van showed temp of 96 whIle it was 40 deg. Outside. On the way home the temp read 120 and actual outside temp was 56. Temperature reading dropped all the way to 100 by the time I got home and the check engine light came back on. Thoughts please. Thinking of buying a replacement connector from RA next but would like opinions. |

Re: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
Might try hitting it with a hair dryer making sure the connector is good and dry then apply dielectric grease to keep water out.

Re: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
I found it bare wires all fixed now.
Spliced the wires with butt joints with heat shrink tubing. Also greased the connection as suggested. |
