97 PA Ultra losing Trans Fluid

My 97 PA Ultra loses a pint of trans fluid every 50 miles...no leaks on the ground...looking at pan on trans it is dry...replaced radiator because the coolant had a strawberry color (thought trans fluid cooler was leaking into coolant)...did not help...WTF?...where could it possibly be going?

If you had an intermix, that stuff is throughout the entire heating and cooling system. Anyway, may have a vacuum modulator, look for fluid in the hose. Also axle seals.

Thanks for the reply...The car has a 4T60-E I believe so no modulator valve...no leaks on the ground...seems like I would be able to see axle seals leaking that much fluid, but I will check into that.

Some of those early year units did have a modulator, check it.

Thanks...but I checked the vin # with a dealer and they confirmed no modulator valve

My manuals say a modulator exists through 1999. Instead of asking the dealer, open the hood and look on the front of the transmission, just behind the left radiator fan.

See a vacuum line?

If for any reason, you think coolant made it's way into the trans fluid, you need to do a complete flush...

I will go and look for the modulator valve, but the car supposedly has a 4T65-E.

4T60's had the modulator, 4T65's didn't...

It was the radiator...replaced it and problem solved.

Goes to show how important good info is in an initial post. Was it wrong? Was the radiator replaced twice? Did the trans get flushed? Who knows.
