If the car was stolen, there's a good chance parts of the electrical system were ripped out to be sold and the problem was repaired cheaply. This could be true about any part of the car. A car with a salvage title due to theft is always sketchy idea. When a car is stolen, the theif's intent is almost never to sell the car as is (unless the thief was really dumb). They usually pull parts out with no plan to ever put back in the car they came from, but to sell as spares. That leads to the same type of thing they do to totalled cars in the junkyard. Wires, hoses, etc. don't get disconnected with care ( what's the point if the part is destined for another car that has all that already in place?). Instead, all that stuff just gets cut to save time. The only way to be 100% sure what's going on is to go through the whole electrical system and look for unoriginal parts, spliced wires, or anything else out of place. You may wind up having to replace an entire wiring harness to get it right. Even after that, the electrical components might be compromised from the hell they've been through. Let this be a lesson to you, salvaged stolen cars make great parts cars, but putting them back on the road might not be such a good idea.
