Left Caliper doesn't release!
I have a 1996 Chrysler-Town & Country Mini Van, 3.8 ltr, ABS, Automatic, A/C.
After applying the brakes, when I release them the left front brake caliper does not release properly. I can pop the bleeder valve open and the caliper releases. I have put 3 ea new/rebuilt calipers on it, replaced the pads, replaced the rotor e times also. No brake lines are kinked, I have power bled them and fluid flows easy out of bleeder. (I had the same problem with a GMC once and it was the brake block that caused the problem) I am wondering if this could be the problem also on this vehicle? |

Re: Left Caliper doesn't release!
I would suspect the flex line has formed what amounts to an internal check valve from a loose piece of lining inside the line. Fluid will flow towards the caliper but not the other way.

Re: Left Caliper doesn't release!
I assume that fixed it? IMHO, you should replace both of them. They are not hard to replace, if you are doing a brake job anyway.
My 98 Dodge Neon had the passenger side one lock up randomly, and it the extra work caused random overheating, and eventually took out the tranny. Only then did I find the problem. I didn't learn, cause 5 years later, the Driver's side went. |
