2001 Regal LS
My Air Bag warning light is lit. My mechanic hooked up his scanner and it shows no communication. We checked the fuse in the fuse box by the passenger door. All fuses good. Is there a fuse or breaker somewhere else. Any help would be appreciated. PS his scanner does communicate with the engine.

Re: 2001 Regal LS
1st off, does his scanner have the ability to communicate with air bag systems? If so, and there is no communication with the SDM, then you are on the right track in checking the fuses. You will need a schematic to locate which pins at the SDM are power and ground, and which are communication wires. I DON'T RECOMMEND AIR BAG REPAIRS BE DONE BY DIY'ERS!!! Have a reputable shop tackle this. There is only the one fuse in the I/P that powers the SDM.

Re: 2001 Regal LS
Agree with GMTech1......leave airbag repairs to the pros, if you really don't know what you are doing..........
More often than not, if you lift the carpet up on the passenger side, and you find water under the carpet, all the connections to the SDM are corroded and you need a full harness replacement.......that's what I have run into.... As GMTech1 said, if that garage does not have a scan tool capable of reading "B" codes, it can't communicate with the SDM.... |
