AC Ace Bristol
Always wanted to build the father of the Cobra. Starting with an AMT Cobra kit.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still some refining to do but not a bad start.

Re: AC Ace Bristol
"Not a bad start??" More like, "sensational start!!" Can't wait to see the body when it's all done! What are you using for research material? Will it be a curbside, or will you try to scratch out an engine??
Keep up the good work |

Quote:
Thank you. I have a pretty deep Cobra reference library but this book seems particularly helpful for this build. ![]() Engine will come from the Heller BMW 328.

Re: AC Ace Bristol
Great start! I hope you can see it fit to cast the finished kit and save me the trouble of doing it myself! Already have the bmw and cobra kits and waaay too many other projects in the pipeline...

Re: AC Ace Bristol
The Heller kits has a nice little engine but it is lacking some detail. Here I have added the intake ports and the push rod cross tubes.

Re: AC Ace Bristol
I stripped the chrome plating from the kits carbs and air cleaners. The air cleaner cover should have a small recess in the center. I created this with a Dremel ball bit.

Re: AC Ace Bristol
I'll use some PE header flanges under the carbs to represent the mounting flange.

Re: AC Ace Bristol
First primer coat didn't reveal any major issues. Just need to touchup a few spots.
