grease found in rear drum, wheel bearing?
hi all, during a routine rotation i noticed grease on the PR shoe lining (in the rivet holes). i can only wonder if this came out of the wheel bearing? there was no other oddity. wheel cylinder was dry.
on my '00 with 235k miles. wheel bearing is original. tia, parker |

Have you ever repacked the wheel bearing? If not the inner hub seal may be leaking. Have you checked for any play in bearings by trying to move the wheel while raised? Is the drum greasy also? |

You may have had an oily splash up from the highway.

Re: grease found in rear drum, wheel bearing?
'98 was the last year for repackable bearings as i understand. no play. no roughness. yes there were stains of dried/ baked grease on the drum. cleaned with brake cleaner. nowhere else could i find traces of the grease.
