Re: Cobra 427

Didn't like the size and shape of the Monogram side pipes so I scratch built a set.

I think they are an improvement.

Re: Cobra 427

Nice stuff JC. The side pipes look a lot better and the dash as well. Are the gauges just decals with a clear cover or are they aftermarket ones?

Looking forward to more updates.

The gauges aren't decals, they are just printed on glossy paper. I found them on ebay.

The gauges are mounted from behind. I then flow in Future floor polish. The Future shrinks a lot so it takes a few applications to build up thickness. On the last application I placed a photo-etch trim ring inside the gauge and flow more Future on top of it. Once dried the Future holds the ring in place.

Re: Cobra 427

I am hoping that when you finish this you start the MFH 1/12th scale monster.

Re: Cobra 427

Engine installed. I fabricated an oil tank for the dry sump lubrication. CSX3016 was one of the very few 427s to run this system. The fill pipe and cap will be installed thru the front wing during final assembly.

Re: Cobra 427

The competition cars ran dual batteries installed behind the passenger seat.

Scratch built batteries and tray.
