Faulty Steering Problem

2002 325i steering would become stiff then go ok in a regular sequence when turning in either direction through the entire range of motion. The cause of this was a siezed ball joint section in the ujoint of the steering shaft that connects the steering column coming out of the firewall to the rack and pinion.

Want to add this symptom due to seeing it in my searches.
