My engine started knocking the other day. The knock would speed up and slow down as I used the accelerator. We looked at it this afternoon took the top cover off and ruled out the rocker arms.
I found this YouTube vid with a Nox doing the same thing as mine. When I read thru the comments the OP had taken it to a mechanic and said it was the oil pump. What do ya'll think?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC--GnghHz8 |

Re: Engine Knocking
This is my 2005 Equinox LS 3400
Oil pressure is good, even changed the oil to see if there was any metal in it. None. Any ideas as to what it is?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOx9746lPkY |

Re: Engine Knocking
I would also describe the sound as a tick more so than a knock. It could be a lifter, but I was thinking it might be an exhaust leak around one of the exhaust manifolds, and the ticking noise is being caused by the leaking exhaust gases hitting the heat shield. The fact that it goes away/gets quieter after it warms up is what makes me lean toward an exhaust leak. It's hard to determine the source of the noise in the video though.
