1999 Stratus A/C Issues

I'm not quite sure what's wrong with our AC. It blows hot and I don't hear the compressor kick on and also when you press the AC button in it lights up but when you let go it goes back out. I tried holding it in but that didn't seem to do anything. I also swapped out the relay and still nothing. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
