The engine\transaxle definitely needs a color modulation, dry-brushing, etc

Hi. Thank you for your constructive comment. I used some graphite powder, but effect is very subtle. I am afraid to use silver and overdo it. Can you tell me how would you do it? If I look on real pics of the trans it dont look much worn

Re: 1/20 McLaren MP 4/4 Tamiya+TS Detail

The goal is not to get the worn look, but to accent the edges due to scale of the parts and monotone overall colour. Not so bad example of modulation you could see here http://www.bestbalsakits.com/tamiya-...2hondaMP46.asp
Maybe i'm not agree with such greyish transaxle, but you'll get the idea.

Thank you. Maybe I am blind but I dont see any dry brushing on that engine?!
Should I use grey or silver color for it?

I do not see any wash there also = ). Anyway it's a larger scale 1/12), and it's always an author's choice.
The colour you try to choose is an arbitrary and it's better to practise on scrap part to decide.

Re: 1/20 McLaren MP 4/4 Tamiya+TS Detail

I love this! I am a big F1 fan but I generally stay away from building them because they are far above my skill level to get right. This is absolutely stunning! One of my biggest regrets is having sold my Tamiya Williams and the accompanying SMS detail set - it was going to be magnificent but I was broke and didn't have time. Now, seeing this, it breaks my heart all over again. This is gorgeous, I am absolutely loving the progress!
