Unique Seven

After over two years it is finished. 100% scratch-built from raw materials. I'll share some detail photos later after I get a chance to shoot them.

Re: Unique Seven

I don't own two of the other six. I gave one Mr. Tamiya and it resides in the Tamiya museum in Japan. Another one is owned by Matthew Wells of ScaleMotorSports.

I've done enough 1:1s, but now I am making 1/25 versions of my 1:1 cars.

And thanks!

Re: Unique Seven

I've been following from the get-go and it is fantastic to see this come to fruition. I would encourage anyone who wants to see a Master in action to check out the build thread.

Re: Unique Seven

Awesome!!! I started to wonder if there was going to be an end to this build Too many great details and techniques to mention. Great watching and thanks for the many ideas I picked up along the way. Soo what ambitious project is next? BTW I'm working on a Precision Miniatures kit from 1978 that has decals by Scale Master

Re: Unique Seven

Although I'm not that much of a car guy I can appreciate great craftmanship. I think that I personally would rather build this car in 1:1 than to get all those measurments done in scale...
In some images I find the car a bit wide, or heavy, at the rear to go with that sharp nose but I will not pick a fight about it, the build is truly amazing in any way you could possibly measure amazingness.

Re: Unique Seven

Thanks guys!
This car is a little beefier than a traditional Seven, thicker frame stock for one to deal with the crappy pot hole laden roads that terrorize my real cars.
And with the full rear body, it does get even chunkier looking.
I've never found Sevens to be attractive or pretty cars, just tools to enjoy the road.
This one's body serves as something to wrap the car, not intended to be particularly attractive, just form following function.

Which Precision Miniatures car are you building Joe? (As well as doing decal art, I was also the head caster there from 1980 to '82.) So I'm guessing it might be an Indy car?

I'm working on the Porsche 550 kit. The castings and decals are still great 30some years later. Do you know who carved the master? Captured the essence of the car nicely.

Re: Unique Seven

Youch. Talk about looking to get an oil filter knocked off...unless the sway bar protects it.

Re: Unique Seven

I see what you mean about the oil filter from that shot Greg, but the angle of the photo is making it look like it sticks way out, in fact it is tucked up higher than the bell housing.

Re: Unique Seven

Something that really makes the build come to life is all those tiny decals. Small fraction of your total work but they seem to be everywhere, even on the hoses. Have you made them while you went along or gathered them in a larger sheet? Do you own your own ALPS printer or how did you do them?
