Change rear brakes shoes

Hello all. I am changing out the brakes shoes to my 2006 Xb.

I need to know how to make a pin stay in a shoe (I've attached a pic).

I have a new copper looking pin that needs to stay in the shoe. The bottom portion of the pic shows a front and back pick of the old shoe.
