2006 transmission leak

My 2006 Ram 2500 w/Auto Trans leaks ATF when parked with the front end down hill. On the level its okay. Looking under the vehicle, it appears to be leaking where the dipstick tube enters the case at the front of the transmission. The tube is held to the case by a single bolt and apparently there are other bolts higher up that I can't easily see. I'd like to remove the dipstick tube and replace the gasket or whatever seal that seems to have failed.
Has anyone done this before? If so how easy is it? Any advice?
What seals the tube at the trans case? Gasket? O-ring? Silicon glue?

Re: 2006 transmission leak

There should be a cylinder shaped seal that just slides in the hole. When I remove transmissions that use this style if seal, when I go back together I usually take some ATF silicone and smear some around the dipstick tube before I slide it back in, just for some extra insurance. It is replaceable and sometimes it sticks to the dipstick tube when you remove it. If it stays in the hole then you should just be able to use a small screwdriver to take it out. Just be careful not to push it down inside the trans. There is the one bolt that bolts the tube to the trans at the bottom of the tube and I am thinking the other bolt is a bellhousing bolt. I am not sure of the price of the seal but you can go to any parts store and buy a tube of silicone that will wortk
