1990 Bronco w / mazda m5r2 5 Speed problem

I have a 1990 Bronco with 5 speed manual trans. While it was idling one morning it sounded like it slipped into gear and died. I pushed in clutch and restarted but could not get back into neutral. I pulled top cover of tranny and inspected forks. they looked worn but not broke. I looked at gears in tranny and it looked like it was in neutral but it is not. Any ideas??????
