Don't typically see people standing on a McLaren F1 but I guess she wasn't going to break it. This was for a Gulf Oil calendar shoot. The car is 064 for those not familiar.

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

What's the milage on 028?
I've never seen a different colour on the upper wishbones close to the exhausts.
Another thing is the removal of the calipers. Is it because breathing the brake system isn't an easy job, maybe? ANd kept the calipers in place on the chassis?
Or is it such a big 'service' all fluids with all critical lines / tubings are replaced anyway?
And nice to see it on an ordinary carwash

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

The discolouration is probably a result of the effects of heat on the anodising fnish on the wishbones, no doubt if I am mistaken someone more knowlegable will provide the correct answer.

I have a note somewhere but it was around 10K when sold in the early part of this year.

Calipers may have been left with the chassis just to facilitate quicker removal of the powertrain unit. Once you crack the hoses to the calipers you're going to have to deal with the fluid. Maybe best to make that a separate job after the fact.

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

I agree it is common practice to tie the callipers up to the bodywork or chassis to save any re-bleeding etc. Even if you are replacing the fluid it is usually one of the last jobs done.

No Quicksilver here, this is a proper McLaren Titanium exhaust! I'm not aware of a quicksilver actually being fitted on a car, they test fitted one a few years ago but it was quickly replaced with a proper McLaren one.
