Dealers will fix seat belts right??

Ok... here's the deal. I bought a civic LX sedan w/ a blown head gasket for $500. It has those seat belts that are on a track and roll down when you open the door and roll up when you close it. Now I know this car has some electrical issues, and I think it's an electrical problem that is keeping from these seat belts from working. Does the dealer have to fix this for free??

The problem probably lies in the clutch assembly on the seatbelt system. If you hit the door panel hard enough with your foot you can crack the fragile plastic that holds the assembly together rendering it useless. When installing some power locks in my friends 91 SI, I removed the door panel to have these pieces fall out of the bottom. His was fixed at the dealer free of charge.

I think as long as you can prove it wasn't your own idiocy that broke them, then you can have them fixed for free.

If it was in an accident, they usually wont replace them either.

No accident... just the car had a blown head gasket & the guy didn't know what it was. Hopefully they will do it.

they must replace them for free, its required by law. you dont even need proof you bought the car or anything, u couldve stolen the thing and just asked to fix the belts, and they have too.
