Cobalt short in wire bundle
Hole worn in wire bundle against engine next to oil filter cap. Caused short. Wraped with electrical tape and tied bundle away from engine with wire tie.

In my original post, I didn't mention what the short caused. The engine started running rough and missing at first, then started dying. There were two of the wires in the bundle where the insulation had just begun to wear through enough they were shorting on the engine. I didn't splice the wires. I just wrapped them with electrical tape and then tied the wire bundle back and away from where they were rubbing on the engine. After doing this, the problem was solved.
