quick question

Just bought a 02 Cavalier love this car but what is the little red light for that's on the left side of the dash by the dimmer/ dome switch.I have no clue as to what it's for. light stays on all the time even when the car is parked and not running.

Sounds like maybe a aftermarket led for a security system.
