1970 Revell Sox and Martin 'Cuda

This is the latest offering from Revell of the 1970 Sox and Martin Pro Stock racer. Paint used was Testors Flat Red, Testors Flat White and Tamiya Blue Metallic for the top. Everything was cleared with Testors Wet Look clear. I modified the intake manifold and scratchbuilt most of it to make it period correct. I used the Johan kit's front tires, didn't like the one the kit offered. I also lowered the front and rear to make it sit a bit better. This one was a fun build!

Marcos,

Came out great!! did you use the kit blue stripes on the body? (it looks like you painted them).

Love what you enhanced in the engine bay, and the stance looks perfect

Great job!!

Thanks guys. The lines were masked on the decal sheet and painted, it was the only way to match the color of the roof with the lines....

Both of those `cudas look amazing!!

Just so I understand, you masked the actual decal sheet, painted the decals themselves, and applied them once the paint was dry? Did you have any issues with cracking/peeling? How many coats did you use, and was this through an air brush or can?
Thanks!

yes my friend, no issues with cracking at all which was my main concern, they were actually very flexible. I decanted the Tamiya paint and airbrushed 3 light coats after masking them with Tamiya tape.

Wow! Great build of a legendary racer, you truly did this one justice and I can't stop admiring it! Definitely one of my favorite racers of that era. Do you have any pictures of the modified intake manifold? I would love to do mine like that.

Diablo papa.. Te salio nitido!! I can almost smell the tires burning on the track!! Love it!! Great idea on painting the decal stripes... And that paint job looks sick. All that's missing is "La Bandera Puertoriquena"!! Lol Such a fantastic job Marcos!!

Re: 1970 Revell Sox and Martin 'Cuda

Thanks guys. The intake manifold was modified using pieces of solid tubing bent to fit onto the top of the engine. I modified the top base, glued it to the top of the engine, drilled the other holes on the sides of the heads and went on from there. After everything was fitted, I added super glue to the various areas.
