Timing belt
When should the timing belt be replaced on a 2009 forrester with 100,000 miles.
If the belt broke will engine damage occur? Thanks |

Re: Timing belt
If its a 2.5l engine, it is an interference engine, and yes, the engine will be toast.(if 2.5l)
Oh, BTW, Owners manual will have info, I would guess 100k miles, I would not go much futher if any past that. matter of fact if it was me, I would have already changed it. Change your waterpump and belt tensioner aswell. You are already in there, and they probably wont make it another 100k. |

Here is the maintenance schedule for my 2010 Forester: 105 months or 105,000 miles.

Re: Timing belt
Funny thing I saw, A forester on ebay with 247,000 mi on it and he NEVER changed the timing belt. I sent him a message asking how many times he changed it and never was his answer, unbelievable.
I have 95,000 on mine and will be changing it soon. I am no gambler. |
