1/12 Datsun 240z trans-kit

With Tamiya releasing the 1/12 Datsun 240zg with the custom additions in the near future I decided to build my dream 240z. I was wondering if anyone knows of a trans-kit that can turn the 240zg into a normal 240z? I would rather not buy both the rally kit and the zg just for the headlight buckets and front bumper. Any kind of help or suggestions are much appreciated.

Re: 1/12 Datsun 240z trans-kit

Sorry but I'm not aware of a transkit.

But I would have to suggest to any resin casters out there that I think there is a market for these items, just a good quality re-pop of the parts from the Z rally kit is all that's required.

It was a little painfull having to rob these parts from a mint kit last time I wanted to build a stock Z, don't really want to do it again.

I'll buy a set to start with, and maybe more depending on quality and price.

Regards, Dan

I second that and would gladly purchase a resin cast of the parts from the rally kit

derekb350z

There is a resin transkit available - of the John Morton SCCA Cp Datsun 240 racer of the 70'S

Look for "bestbalsakits" on google and talk with Vim from Belgium

Not sure if he still has any - but he did in his online catalog last time I looked.

Hope this helps
John

Thanks John18d I have purchased from Vim before but didn't think to look on his website for that transkit. Fingers crossed he has one.

You do not need to buy the rally kit for the parts. You can order them from Tamiya as spare parts.

I'm not sure that the rally version is still in production??

Tamiya usually can only supply bits for kits in production as far as I know, but it is worth a try Jay.
