Tamiya has brought back TS13 Clear , look for it in your LHS sometime around the middle to end of July

Re: TS-13 back soon for the USA
Testors wet-look clear is a very good substitute, but it's good to have another option.
So, this TS-13 is a revised formula? I wonder how it acts on decals or behave against sanding and polishing. |

Re: TS-13 back soon for the USA
I don't miss TS-13 any longer because I found great substitutes (Gunze bottled clear and U-Pol, both get airbrushed). While I thought I liked the ease of polishing TS-13, I was getting disappointing results after polishing...too easy to burn through layers, never fully curing.
If TS-13 is reformulated and actually dries to a more durable finish, I might use it again.

Bob, are you thinning the Upol clear or using it straight decanted? Dehydrating between coats? How many coats are you using? I'm getting tired of the hit or miss using 2k clear...

Re: TS-13 back soon for the USA
I thin U-Pol w/Mr. Color or Mr. Leveling thinner about 10-20% for my setup using a Grex Tritium TG w/the .3mm tip.
I probably apply anywhere from 5-10 coats per session, often I clear, let it dry for awhile in the dehydrator, scuff w/4000, and reshoot the same amount. A couple thin coats to start each session, the rest fairly wet, it doesn't want to run unless you really flood it.

Re: TS-13 back soon for the USA
Testor's Wet Look is O.K. but not great. I find that it tends to spray a bit thick, like all Testor paint(except the Metalizers). At least it doesn't wreak havoc on decals.

Re: TS-13 back soon for the USA
I think testors wet look is a pretty good substitute for ts-13. It's not as hot and dries harder. It does tend to have more orange peel and doesn't level out as well as ts-13 but you can get better results if you spray through the airbrush. I've been reluctant to try and thin testors wetlook because I don't know what thinner would be compatible with it. It tends to spray well around 20=25 psi anyway.
